Archaeological Park Xanten

Archaeological Park Xanten

Day trips

For almost five hundred years, the Romans ruled the Rhine. The city of Xanten was then called Colonia Ulpia Traiana and was one of the most important Roman sites in Germania.

But what was life like in Roman Germania?

The Archaeological Park Xanten, also known as the Roman Park, now covers almost the entire ancient area and impressively brings the Roman history closer to young and old alike.

On the grounds of the largest archaeological open-air museum in Germany, in addition to impressive reconstructions of Roman buildings, you will also find the LVR-RömerMuseum. With around 2,000 square meters of exhibition space, visitors are presented with a vivid picture of Roman everyday life in Germania through over 2,500 exhibits, excavations, events, and modern media - exciting and educational!
